Our first Chevrolet Volt showed up and was about to be delivered to it's new owners today - but I was able to get one quick photo of it before it left our premises..
I apologize for the picture quality-but it was the best I could do through my office window with my phone.
I stayed up to see a rare sight tonight...A Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse" .
The following tells you just how long we will have to wait to see another one...
(This was taken fromNASA's website)This lunar eclipse falls on the date of the northern winter solstice. How rare is that? Total lunar eclipses in northern winter are fairly common. There have been three of them in the past ten years alone. A lunar eclipse smack-dab on the date of the solstice, however, is unusual. Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory inspected a list of eclipses going back 2000 years. "Since Year 1, I can only find one previous instance of an eclipse matching the same calendar date as the solstice, and that is 1638 DEC 21," says Chester. "Fortunately we won't have to wait 372 years for the next one...that will be on 2094 DEC 21
Here are a few photos I snapped while chatting with the folks on the WVEC Eagle Chat (Thanks for the reminder, Sioux!)
We now know to grab the camera and search the skies "when birds fly" ! I saw all the birds scatter and take off for the sky this morning so I grabbed the camera and was able to take these two poor quality pictures before the resident neighborhood hawk took off. We have caught glimpses of him trying to catch a feathered snack -but we have not actually witnessed him being successful.
I am an active 50 plus year old who has been married for OVER 30 years. My husband and I love to travel in our motorhome with our two Prancealots Min Pins. (Prancealots is the kennel name) We love to spend time together, sometimes just doing nothing but listening to music - while he reads.
I enjoy doing genealogy and would love to one day be able to travel all over the country doing Family Tree research.
One day I hope to go fulltime in the motorhome. I cannot think of a better way to see this great country that is called the United States of America. I feel there is so much history and sights to see...and we never take the time to explore and see them because of time constraints. What better way to see America than to be able to take as much time as you like to go from one place to another without having to worry about being at a certain spot by a certain date...and being able to do this in the comforts of "your own home". I love the idea of having my own kitchen, my own bed and my own living area with me at all times!
